Failure

“Failure is fantastic learning opportunity” Robert Biswas-Diener

“Success is going from failure to failure with enthusiasm” Winston Churchill

Learning from our mistakes or failures is something that is often talked about but not actually praised nearly enough. Learning from your failures doesn’t mean you pretend mistakes feel good, acknowledge the pain and then ask what can i learn from this Jordan was so fueled by failing. He used criticism or failures as motivation to become a better player and work harder. If anythings Michael’s super power wasn’t his talent: it was how he was motivated by failures… Here is a quick list:

Didn’t make Varsity- Fueled him to relentellsey improve as a player

His College Coach Dean Smith said he wasn’t working hard enough- He then decided not only would he work harder but he would be the hardest working player Dean Smith had ever coached.

Michael Joran the 83 and 84 College player year but wasn’t drafted first but instead 3rd- He decided the first day he got to the Bulls training camp he would find the best player and out play him. MJ was rookie of the year.

Was being beaten up by the Pistons and Knicks who were stronger and more physical - He reinvents his body in the weight room to be strong enough to take the beating at a time where NBA players didn’t really have weight training programs.

Any comment or slight against him- He never forgot and used it as motivation during the game he played against that player.

Couldn’t hit off speed pitches in baseball - Was the first to arrive at the ball park in the morning and last to leave. He didn’t have a successful batting average but Terry Francona said he believes with his work ethic he would have made the major leagues with more reps.

Out of shape when he came back to the sport and not a lot of time to practice when filming Space Jam- He had WB build a gym, invites the best players to learn from and play against, and works out during his lunch break

These are just a few examples. So you’ve failed, what can you learn? Use it as motivation and super power like Mike. Let’s go!
