Courage on the Court

Courage: the willingness to take action and the ability to handle fear

In the book The Courage Quotient it speaks on the idea that having courage is based on the willingness to take action and the ability to handle fear. As a basketball player, any athlete, or any human in general you will in times need to find courage. As a hooper you are playing in in front of an audience therefor sometimes you will inevitably fail and be criticized. You will be challenged and need to challenge yourself, opponents, and teammates all the time. There will be times of fear: Is the harsh criticism true? Will you miss the shot? What will others think?

So how can you step up your courage game? Are you willing to ask for coaching/criticism and still put in the work. Are you willing to support others when it’s not going your way.

How about fear: Are you willing to miss the last shot? Are you willing to give it your absolute all knowing you might not get everything your want. That’s courage.

Let’s practice being more courages today so were ready for when we need it on or off the court.
