Collecting U's

Psychologist and co-author of the “The Tools” Phil Stutz writes about the importance of collecting U’s or what he calls “turnarounds” in life. The theory being that when things great you are at the top of your U shape and inevitably you are working towards something especially something important you will fall to that bottom of the U. The magic is how quickly can you bounce back to the top of the U. We shouldn’t be shocked when we struggle, that is part of the game, instead we should focus on continuing to bounce back after the struggle and get back to the top of that U shape.

We know the only way to improve and especially to become great is to struggle so if you can be resilient and continue to collect your U’s then you are limitless. Make this a game, collect U’s. Whats one small action you can take to bounce back when you are at the bottom of your U? Think Michael Jordan being played physical so he added weight training to his routine, think Steph Curry having ankle problems so he changed the way he ran, think Lebron struggling scoring at the end of playoff games so he added a post game. Are you struggling with something, well whats one small step you can take to bounce back to the top of your U? Make it a game collect U’s.
